Hi there!
Today we took a little walk over in Ginza to discover a very unique building - the Nakagin Capsule Tower!
Nakagin Capsule Tower, located between Ginza and Shiodome is one of the most famous modern residential buildings in Japan. Created in 1972 by Kisho Kurokawa, the pioneer architect of the Metabolism movement, the concept was to propose “capsule apartments” for Tokyo population.

Not familiar with Capsules?
Capsules are cubic micro-apartments with everything has been sized to the minimum for a person to live.
You could say the apartments are assembled like wooden cube toys for children.

Nowadays, even if the building is old, architecture lovers still want to live in it.
The Nakagin Capsule Tower was a pioneer of its time and became a model for the famous capsule hotels. This is a perfect example of ingenious ways the Japanese found to maximize the use of their space to host the massive urban populations. Fortunately though, not all buildings are like this and you can still find an apartment with plenty of room in Tokyo, if you pay the price!
