Most Sanuki udon restaurants in Kagawa Prefecture tend to open early in the morning and close early in the afternoon after lunch.

For this reason, most people in Kagawa think of udon as something you eat for lunch.

However, this does not mean that all restaurants are only open for lunch.

There are also Sanuki udon restaurants that are open at night in the downtown area of Takamatsu City.

These Sanuki udon restaurants that are open at night are popular among people to finish up the night after having a few drinks in the downtown area.

One of the most popular restaurants is Konpira Udon, which is located right in the middle of downtown.

So I decide to go out for a drink and I then visited the restaurant when I was feeling a little tipsy.
A somewhat unique type of udon is the specialty at this restaurant.
Shabu-shabu is a Japanese specialty consisting of thinly sliced beef that is lightly boiled in a hot broth and then eaten.
This restaurant’s most popular dish called shabu-shabu niku udon is based on this Japanese specialty.

A generous amount of thinly-sliced beef is loaded on top of kake udon (udon noodles in broth) and remains in red without being fully boiled, the same manner as for shabu-shabu.
You can either eat this beef while it is still slightly rare, or put it in the hot broth and wait until it is fully cooked.

The udon noodles are thinner than standard Sanuki udon noodles.
Another characteristic is a slippery texture rather than firm texture, which makes noodles easy to swallow.
These slippery noodles that are easy to swallow are probably more suitable for people who have had a few drinks than firm noodles that need to be thoroughly chewed.

Having a stomach full of udon while feeling a little tipsy is sure to make your walk home easier.
