More than a thousand years people have been drinking coffee. Japan is one of the largest consumers of coffee in the world, walk through the streets of Tokyo for a few minutes and you will find lots of cafés around the corners.
Donpa located at Ginza is my favourite cup of coffee whenever I drop by.
Unlike Starbucks, Donpa is using the time-consuming cold water “drop-by-drop” technique known as the “Japanese Iced Method” to produce coffee. Compared to Starbucks, as my own humble opinion, Starbucks is most likely crap.

Many people confuse that cold brew coffee is the same as iced coffee, which is typically a cup of hot coffee pouring into a glass of ice.
The truth is, cold brew refers to the process of producing the coffee in room temperature or cold water for an extended period. Usually it takes at least 7 to 12 hours to complete the process.
Because of the unique brewing method, it keeps the original taste, colour, and aroma of the coffee. Nevertheless, it seems less bitter but sweeter due to its low acidity.
What a healthy beverage besides water!
Bad news for non-smokers is that smoking is allowed in the cafe.
For folks that do not smoke but wish to try it out, take away or purchase cold brewed coffee essence to make some at home.
If you happen to be in the area, stop by Donpa for some quality coffee. 40 years of serving cold brew coffee will not disappoint you!
