Autumn sightseeing spots near Tokyo

As Autumn is on its way to Japan, we have gathered a couple famous tourist spots attractions which can be reached within 2-3 hours from Tokyo by trains.

Senjōgahara and Odashirogahara

The two locations are of Japan’s famous wetlands. You can enjoy the vivid colors of the wetland grasses along with hiking trails for viewing the autumn colors. The nature trails provide an easy two-hour trip, through the wetlands and surrounded by natural beauty.

Nasu

Famous for its Imperial Villa and natural hot spring, Nasu is the second place we recommending for autumn sightseeing. Depending on the methods of commute, it may take from 1 to 3 hours. Nasu Ropeway gondola is also a great way for autumn leaves viewing, you can experience a 4-minute aerial trip allows you to travel close to the summit of Chausudake and the highest peak of the Nasu mountain range. you can witness the beauty of autumn leaves from the gondola along with the view of Kanto’s famed Mt. Tsukuba, Mt Yamizo and other mountains.

Aizu-Oze National Park and Aizu Astoria Hotel

Oze National Park is famous for the its all-season hiking tracks and diversity from the 4 season sceneries. It straddles between Gunma, Fukushima, Tochigi, Niigata and is the largest mountainous area located in the Honshu Area. Autumn leaves in this area are no doubt stunning and recommended period to visit is during mid September to early October.
