Fun! Japan AL and Memmy came back with report about Visit Japan winners trip to Kurobe Dam in Toyama prefecture.
This morning Jojo, Winy, Dear and Mama departed from the hotel nearby Tokyo station.
Here is their photo right before leaving the hotel lobby and in front of Tokyo Station.

Surely it’s a good way to start the day cheerfully.
Because today we were about to visit one of the most beautiful human made object in Japan. Largest arch dam and most popular hydropower site in Japan: Kurobe Dam!!
Kurobe Dam is located more than 270km northwest of Tokyo. Since it is quite far from Tokyo, we decided to go there with Shinkansen up to Ueda station.
The name of Shinkansen we rode was Asama. Do you guys know that shinkansen have different name for each line?
Here is the photo of the winners in front of Shinkansen and sitting inside it. Do you notice the spacious legroom inside the shinkansen?
From Ueda station we continued the trip riding the bus. In the rest area, Jojo, Winy, Dear and Mama bought some omiyage (souvenirs) for family back in Indonesia and Thailand. And some ice cream too!!
After 2 hours bus ride, we arrived at Ogisawa station. We will go through the Alpine Route from this station. Take a look at the route that we took below.
From Ogisawa station we had to change means of transportation from normal tour bus to trolley bus. Wait, what is trolley bus anyway?
It is one of special means of transportation used in Alpine Route that goes inside the tunnel that connects one site of tourism spot to the others.

Now here the pose of the winners with the trolley bus ticket and the post in front the bus. The bus is special because it operates on electricity. Just look at the cable on the top of the bus roof!
Finally we arrived at the dam.
As hydropower site, Kurobe Dam produces 3.1 billion Kwh of electricity every year. The dam can power up to 1 million houses in a year!!
Take a look at the photos of the dam below guys. It is a beautiful scenery, isn’t it?
No wonder nearly 1 million people visit this huge dam annually.

Do you guys notice 4 of us were wearing sunglasses? Yup it was very bright that day.
After taking family photo, we decided to eat some matcha mochi with cream filling. Hmmm, it was really delicious.

It’s already May, 4 months away from winter peak, but we also can see some snow leftover.
