百人一首(坊主めくり)= Hyakunin Isshu (Bouzu Mekuri)

The meaning of the words are :


百人一首 Hyakunin Isshu is a 100 written poems written by 100 poets. 


坊主めくり Bouzu Mekuri is name of card game similar to Karuta.

Like I said if Karuta has two types of card Torifuda and Yomifuda, in this Bouzu Mekuri they only have Torifuda.

First, they have to stack up all the cards on the middle of the table. 


In this game Torifuda type of cards have 3 different cards.

The card with a picture of a man (in the middle) - If you take this card you can keep the card.


The card with a picture of a bald man (right hand side) - If you take this card you must put all the cards you have and place it beside the stacked cards (The cards which are being played) and categorized as lost cards.


The card with a woman (left hand side) - If you take this card you may take all the cards that is given by the players or the easy way you may take all the lost cards.

The cards that are covered which has no printing on it is put upside down, that is where the players must take the cards.



And the cards facing up is called the lost cards.

The one who wins is the one who has the most cards when the stacked cards are finished :)
