How about a picnic on a sunny Sunday in a beautiful Japanese garden?
Last time, I decided to visit the wonderful Sankeien garden in Yokohama, but rather than eating somewhere in a restaurant, I thought it was better to enjoy the garden as much as possible and fortunately there was a small Japanese-style bakery where we bought some sandwiches.

Since Sankeien is a very famous and protected garden, you can only eat in some designated areas like this one in front of the big pond.
How lovely it is to eat while enjoy this beautiful landscape !
Here are some classic sandwiches from Japanese bakeries for example :
Yakisoba-pan : Sandwich filled with fried noodles
Korokke-pan : Sandwich filled with a fried croquette made of mashed potatoes. Some of them can also contains meat like ground beef (Gyuniku korokke) or pork meat (Menchi Katsu korokke).
Age curry pan : This round pan is filled with vegetable curry then fried.
Here is a anpan filled with white beans paste and chestnut.
Bakeries also sells some drinks like milk, juice, coffee and tea.
Many other people were also eating bento or rice balls made at home.
While eating there were many stray cats who came to ask for food.
They are very popular with visitors.
Since the garden is huge, many animals like stray cats, crows, fish, frogs live there.
You can buy some special food to feed the nishikoi carp fish, they’re huge and move a lot.
At last, like in many places in Japan, there’s no garbage cans, so you’ll have to take all your trash at home to keep the place clean.
If the weather is good, why not try to eat in a beautiful park in Japan?
