Hallo, Hacchi here, this time I am in MANGAFEST Yogyakarta which was held on 15-16 October 2016. A festival that hold by people that love manga and Japan goods , of course the main show is manga and artwork creation from mangaka Indonesia.
First, sorry that I can only come in last day of festival (16 october) so I cannot tell a story what event that been hold in 15 october.
Each 3 month or 5 month in year city Yogyakarta always have festival with theme Japan and if I have a time I always come to festival event that have Japan event like Japan fair that held in University in early in 2016, but in my experience this is my first time come to mangafest, so This is my story about mangafest or comiket version Indonesia
first, The place that held mangafest divided into 3 sections. I forgot to mention the price of admission, it just Rp.15.000,- (fifteen thousand Rupiah) and can be used for two days or can be used during the event still go on. Fairly cheap plus the tickets design using bracelet system so it can be removable when I think don’t need it.
The Section one is located in inside the building after pass the committee, and I can see so many people that wandering in all stand in this section. All stand in this section is so colorful with so many made in Indonesia manga, goods, and art work that show their hard work to show how much their manga can attract people that love manga. The surprise one is the are some stand that have made doujin and art work that using a famous character from anime or manga but still made in Indonesia, very interesting. All manga, art work, goods, and doujins price is around ten thousand Rupiah to fifty thousand four Rupiah, the price is quite fair to me.
The section two is in outside that you can see short story manga that had be display for who want to see all manga made in Indonesia with review and the name that created the manga. all manga is have a good story and good quality draw that make me want to read it again. In short is a good manga.
And the last section or the third section is same as section two is in outside. This section is more crowded than other section because so many cosplayer and people that want to take photo with the cosplayer, there are a food stand for people who hungry, almost of the stand selling all kind Japan food like takoyaki and kakigori , stand that selling all good from Japan like action figures, Japan video game, and some merchandise that directly from Japan (some goods quite expensive), and stand community like shogi community, card game community (yu-gi-oh and vanguard), and Love live community. But the reason most the crowed in this section is after lunch time. Yup…After lunch one of the best event, the cosplay competition in big stage.
Very interesting competition because the cosplayers doing their best doing a action or mimic the move that reference the character like special move or how the character usually do, with with background sound or music that fit the character in the stage to the to appeal the judge (they also dressed in cosplay) and win the competition.
This cosplay competition is one of main event in day two of event mangafest so people is very high tension to see this competition. In this festival Not just participant in competition doing the cosplay but people that come to festival also doing a cosplay for crowd the festival, also some people just put headbands cat ear to look cute and take photo with their favorite character.
It is unfortunate I can’t see who is the winner the cosplay competition and joint the next event. I am almost forgot. This mangafest have a two mascot. The mascot can be seen when want to walk to exit gate. The girl mascot name is Feya and the boy mascot name is Mada, two of them is cute and cool. Even the festival just two day and I only came in last day, I am very enjoy the festival like eat takoyaki, search goods, reading and buy manga, see the cosplayer, see the competition, and take photo with the cosplayer. I hope can come again next time.
