Today I would like to share about a Japanese snack I found recently in Jakarta. It’s Taiyaki, the famous fish-shaped cake!
This is a special type of taiyaki. Why is it so special? Usually people pour taiyaki batter to the pan and then bake it. But this taiyaki use pastry sheet instead of batter. They fold the pastry sheet to make a pocket, and then press it with taiyaki pan so the pocket shaped like a fish.
It taste more crispy that ordinary taiyaki. I ordered the rum and it taste soooo good. It feels crispy outside, and warm. Yet the rum filling is so creamy and cool. Perfect combination. The only problem is when you bite the filling side, the cream is overflowing and could melt in your hand.
