It was all I thought at that time. I would have a 5 day wonderful trip with Kitty, the winner from Malaysia, and Fun! Japan team. It was like a dream, but it was not. I was ready to have my day 1 trip: Going to Asahiyama Zoo! I was very excited, because I love animals! I was going to see white bears and penguins! There were going to be many other cute animals. I could not wait for it!

Kitty and I, ready to go to Asahiyama Zoo!!
At 8.30 a.m. we went to Sapporo main bus terminal, next to JR Train Station. The air was quite cold, but I enjoyed it. Naomi-san from Fun! Japan bought the ticket for a-day bus tour which departed at 9.20, then we lined up in front of the bus, and off we went!

The bus that would take us to Asahiyama Zoo.
It took around 2 hours to get to the zoo. On the half way, we dropped by at a rest area for 15 minutes to go to toilet and buy some drink or snacks. I saw a lot of vending machines, selling bottled drinks, hot drinks, and even hot snacks, like what I ever read before in Fun! Japan articles. Because I felt cold, I bought a cup of hot coffee. It was very hot and tasted good, and I like the picture on the cup! After 15 minutes we went back to the bus. The tour schedule was very punctual, so we should be on time

Buying a cup of coffee from the vending machine.
At 11.45 we arrived at the zoo! The tour leader guided us to enter the zoo. We had 3.5 hours to explore the zoo, and should be back at the bus at 15.15. Well, let’s start playing with the animals! ^_^

The entrance of the zoo; there were souvenir stores and a photo counter.
The zoo was very big. Fortunately there was a map so we could check which way we should go. The air was cold and it started to drizzle, but is did not bother us. We kept going to see monkeys, deer, fox, and other animals.

Look at how big the zoo area was.

The zoo map; it was very informative!

Look at how cute they were!

These adorable animals looked so healthy!
Uh-oh, the rain started to get bigger. Naomi-san said that the zoo provided umbrellas for visitors, because we saw people bringing umbrellas with the same color :D Then we asked the staff and went to the directed way to borrow umbrellas. They also had baby strollers for visitors to borrow. They were so considerate!

Just take the umbrella as much as you need, but do not forget to return them.

The umbrella has pictures on it! They were all about the zoo! ^_^
