VISIT JAPAN CAMPAIGN TOHOKU Winner Report Day 2 : Visiting Sendai (Miyagi)

We met at the lobby to check out around 8.30am. Everybody was still exhausted from the play at the Lake Towada Snow Festival yesterday. We took a train from Hirosaki station to Shin-Aomori station. Then we changed to JR Shinkansen (bullet train) to Sendai station. It was my first shinkansen experience ever. Extremely fast! Wohooo!!

Enjoying Sendai`s Gourmet

We arrived at Sendai station after 2 and a half hours later. We left our baggage there to look around the station for lunch and some souvenirs hunting. We split into two teams; one to enjoy beef tongue and another one to enjoy halal food which included me. We found a restaurant which sells only oyster menus. Jum-san who is one of the FUN! JAPAN`s staff followed us to the oyster restaurant and she really helped with the ingredients check before we ordered the food there.

After spending 2 hours of eating and shopping at Sendai station, we took taxis to Zuihoden. It is a historical place where you get to learn a lot. I find it quite interesting. Plus, the place is so ambient and relaxing.

Then we went back to Sendai station. Picked up our baggage and moved to Zao Ski Resort directly by bus from there. We went from town uphill till we reached the resort after probably one hour of the journey.

We checked in Tsuruya Ryokan & Onsen at the resort. Guess what, the ryokan is so wonderful. It was my dream to stay in a ryokan with onsen. Finally, the dream comes true. Heartiest thanks to FUN! JAPAN for this amazing experience. I wish to stay here a bit longer to enjoy the onsen once again. Love it so much!

The dinner prepared by the ryokan was fabulous. I really had a lovely dinner there with my fellow travel mates. It was a pure Japanese culture experience from a to z staying at the ryokan.

After dinner, we headed to Zao Ropeway by a shuttle bus. We took a cable car to the peak of the mountain to see the Snow Rime Illumination. The temperature and wind speed up there was no joke. We literally froze to death! Luckily we all got to enjoy onsen later at night. It felt so good.

So that is it for the third day of the trip. Another great day passed by.
