The Amanohashidate in Miyazu city, Kyoto Prefecture is one of Japan’s Three Scenic Views and is a sandbank which separates the Miyazu Bay and the Asokai sea from north to the south. You can see beautiful autumn leaves colored in bright red around the areas of Amanohashidate. There are also autumn events that are being held for you to enjoy. Surrounded by nature, the mountains in Tango are dyed in red, presenting to you a wonderful scenery. You should visit Amanohashidate in the autumn if you have the chance.

Ouchitogeichijikan-koen is a where you can get an overall view of the Amanohashidate (天橋立).

The entry is free, and you can see the Wakasa Bay from the observation deck as well as the Amanohashidate which looks like a bridge that is connected to the sky. Beside the observation deck, there is also paid areas where there are cottages and tents for you to stay and enjoy nature throughout all seasons. In the autumn, a bright red gradient spreads throughout the area, making it a beautiful attraction. The Ouchi Toge Koyo Matsuri will also be held, and stalls and shops will be set up, bringing life to that area.

Accessible by getting on the pleasure boat, cable car and bus (they are all connected). Although it is a long journey, you can enjoy the view of the autumn leaves of Amanohashidate as you ride the cable car or the bus up to Nariai-ji temple. There will be a 2-day autumn leaves light up event in the autumn where you can enjoy the dreamlike scenery of the autumn leaves. The Kasamatsu Park cable car and the Nariaiji shuttle bus will operate temporarily at night during the event, and the fares throughout the event for the cable cars and buses are free.

  • Access: Get off at the Kyoto Tango Railway’s Amanohashidate station, take the Tankai company’s pleasure boat to Ichinomiya Sanbashi pier and take the Kasamatsu cable car to Cable Kasamatsu station. After that, get on the shuttle bus and get off the Nariaiji Temple.
