A three-story concrete building, Annex Katsutaro Ryokan might not look like a traditional hotel in Yanaka, but it is a comfortable and clean ryokan. You can experience the Japanese Ryokan treatment and sleep on futons like Japanese people. The couple running this place is said to be a helpful, friendly pair that often go out of their way to help troubled customers.

The usual items such as yukata, Bath-towel, toothbrush, hair-dryer, matcha, shampoo, and body soap are also provided. Staying for a day at a Single Room in the ryokan range from 6,600 Yen~7,500 yen depending on the season.

Staying in a hotel near Yanaka Ginza is quite affordable because it is in the Shitamachi, which could be translated as downtown, but actually is related to the style of the town. Shitamachi is a town with more traditional architecture and has an old Edo atmosphere.

Hanare Hotel Yanaka

There are five types of room at hanare - Yatsude (Japanese Aralia), Kasumi (Mist), Hikari (Light), Kumo(Cloud) and Konoha (Tree leaves).
